For kids: you can ask us anything
This is your information. You have a say in it.
- Ask a question. What do we keep? Why? Who sees it?
- See what we keep. We'll show you, in simple words.
- Fix it. Tell us if something is wrong.
- Delete it. Ask us to delete your information.
- Complain. Tell us if we got something wrong.
Use the form at korvaacademy.com.au/privacy-concern. You can give your name, or stay anonymous. Anonymous means we won't know it was you. Then we can't write back to you, though.
A real person reads every message. We answer within 30 days.
What could happen? We might explain something. We might fix or delete something. We might change how Korva works.
Still not happy? A government office called the OAIC can help.
1. What you can ask about
Anyone who uses Korva — a parent or guardian, or a child — can contact us about how Korva collects, uses or shares personal information about children. You can:
- ask a general question about our privacy practices;
- ask for an explanation of how information about a child is collected, used or disclosed, including the categories we hold, where it came from, why we use it, who receives it, how long we keep it, and the automated decisions Korva makes;
- ask to see, correct or destroy information about a child (a child, or a parent or guardian of a child under 15) — a parent can also use the destruction request page in Settings and the consent settings;
- make a complaint about how we handled personal information.
2. How to contact us
- The form: /privacy-concern. It works for parents and children, and you choose whether to give your name.
- Email: admin@korvaacademy.com.au.
Anonymously or by a made-up name. A general question or complaint can be made without telling us who you are. The only difference is that we cannot reply to you unless you leave a way to reach you. A request to see, correct or destroy a particular child's information needs us to know which account it is about, so that we only ever act for the right family.
3. What happens to what you tell us
- Your message is read by Korva's operator, the one person who handles privacy requests. It is not shared with anyone else, and it is never sent to an AI system.
- We keep a record of the message, the dates and our response, so we can show how we dealt with it if the OAIC asks. If you were anonymous, the record has no link to any account.
- We use what you tell us only to answer you and to fix any problem you found.
4. When we will answer
We take reasonable steps to deal with every question and complaint within 30 days of receiving it. A request to see, correct or destroy information is also answered within 30 days; if a request is unusually complex we may need up to 60 days, and if so we will tell you within the first 30 days and say why. We answer in clear, plain words, and a child gets an answer written for a child.
Possible outcomes include: an explanation; a copy of the information; a correction; destruction of the information, confirmed in writing; a change to how Korva works; or, if we decide not to do what you asked, our reasons in writing and how to take it further.
5. If you are not satisfied
You can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the independent government regulator for privacy: oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints, phone 1300 363 992. The OAIC usually asks you to raise the complaint with us first and give us 30 days to respond.
